Dr Andy Leonard
Oil and Gas UK
I worked for just over 30 years for BP. Starting as a geologist I worked for several years in reservoir characterization and reservoir management roles, largely in the North Sea. I then moved into broader operational leadership roles, including asset manager for the Andrew/Cyrus fields and UK exploration.
In 2003 I moved into BP’s Upstream Technology organisation running specialist technical support teams and global R&D programmes (Field of the FutureTM and EOR and other subsurface technologies). In mid 2008 I moved to a role for the BP Group managing the relationship between BP and the University of Cambridge. This involved oversight of the strategic relationships, all R&D activities, the relationship with the BP Institute for Multiphase Flow and recruiting.
I retired from BP in March 2013 and I am now consulting for Oil and Gas UK on technology issues associated with EOR and North Sea Technology Strategy.
I have also had a long running relationship with the Dept of Geology & Petroleum Geology at University of Aberdeen and was made Honorary Professor in 2012.
